Empower change through learning and service to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy with us.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is all about turning Dr. King’s incredible legacy into community action and discovery. We invite individuals of all ages and backgrounds to join us in meaningful conversations and advocacy activities. From thought-provoking film screenings to engaging PJ Library programming, there’s something for everyone.
We welcome participants of all abilities. If you need any accommodations, please contact Jodi at jteitelman@thejewishnetwork.org.
Learning for Lasting Impact
This year, our programming is focused on learning rather than hands-on service.
While hands-on service addresses the urgent needs of our community—providing meals, hygiene items, school supplies, and more to solve immediate problems—learning is the crucial first step toward a long-term solution.
Dr. King’s legacy is all about addressing systemic issues that impact People of Color. When we understand these issues, we can take the initial stride towards advocacy—an essential form of service. People of all ages can be advocates for change!

Having difficult conversations with others can be hard, no matter your age. Join with other 3rd – 6th graders and their families in thoughtful discussion around an episode of the TV show Black-ish. Together, we’ll explore what it means to make assumptions and have others make assumptions about us. Esteemed educators from the greater Baltimore community will share the role in which micro-aggressions have in our lives and how we can use Jewish values and the power of community to combat hate and bias. Service learning hours will be available. Please contact Jodi at jteitelman@thejewishnetwork.org with any questions.
