What has been your favorite volunteer experience?
My family and I look forward to delivering food for Moveable Feast each holiday season. It is so rewarding to bring needed food and supplies directly to the recipient.
How have you been involved with JVC?
Along with Moveable Feast, I have participated in Bookworms, Bunches of Lunches, and Weekend Backpacks.
How have you found volunteering to be meaningful in your life?
Through volunteering my children and myself have learned about and visited different communities right in our own city. We have seen that small actions can make a big impact on those who are in need.
What advice would you give to other volunteers? What would you tell someone who may be nervous to commit or is new to volunteering?
I would tell other volunteers to encourage their family members to get involved. Along with spending time with your loved ones, you are also making a difference in someone else’s family. If someone is unsure about the commitment to volunteer, I would encourage them to get involved in something that interests them and to use the skills you have to help others.
What is your favorite hobby?
I love to exercise – especially yoga!
What is your favorite time of day?
I am definitely a morning person.
What do you think is the best way for individual volunteers to become volunteer group leaders?
I think group leaders need to be organized, enthusiastic, and comfortable with taking on new challenges.
