The Macks Center for Jewish Education (CJE)- The Macks Center for Jewish Education promotes and facilitates lifelong learning that nurtures Jewish identity and strengthens Jewish community.
CHAI- CHAI strengthens the fabric of neighborhoods connected to Jewish Baltimore, through housing and community development, so residents of all ages can thrive.
CHANA- CHANA offers a Jewish community response to the needs of persons who experience abuse and other forms of interpersonal trauma. In providing crisis intervention, education and consultation, CHANA advocates for community awareness, safety and healing.
Jewish Community Center (JCC)- Inspired by Jewish values, we create meaningful experiences and opportunities to enrich, connect and celebrate a vibrant Jewish community.
Jewish Community Services (JCS)- Jewish Community Services (JCS) is a comprehensive non-profit human service agency of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. JCS provides a broad range of services to meet the multi-dimensional needs of individuals and families throughout Central Maryland including: Counseling/Therapy, Psychiatric Services, Service Coordination, Career Services, Information/Resource referrals and Services for those with Disabilities and their loved ones. JCS also provides community education programming and support groups on a wide range of topics including grief and loss, parenting, aging, caregiving, and substance use.
Jewish Museum of Maryland- The Jewish Museum of Maryland connects people to Jewish experiences and Maryland’s Jewish community to its roots. We inspire everyone to explore history, take action, and imagine a better future. Two historic synagogues, including the state’s oldest, are on our campus.
Pearlstone- Pearlstone aims to ignite Jewish passion while connecting guests with the land and Jewish values; our peaceful retreat center, sustainable farm, and dynamic programming enable and inspire vibrant Jewish life.

CHAI Volunteer Categories
CHAI's Aging in Community: The goal is to strengthen Northwest Baltimore by helping older residents remain safe, well and independent in their homes as long as possible, living lives of purpose and engaged in the community.
Community Engagement and Organizing: This facilitates the development of residents to become agents of change on shared issues in their communities. It increases the stability of the neighborhoods through resident-led efforts to improve their quality of life.
Sukkah Tour: Be a host for middle school students to have an experimental experience for the holiday of Sukkot.
CHAI's Aging in Community Volunteer Programs
CHAIway: CHAI has identified transportation as one of the biggest needs of the senior population. Many older adults would like to attend events, visit friends, run errands but have no way to get there. In addition to providing a much-needed service, volunteer drivers engage with their passengers and form relationships that help combat isolation and loneliness for these older adults. The experience is extremely meaningful and rewarding for the volunteers as well as the riders. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid and current driver license and insurance.
Northwest Neighbors Connecting Village: This is an organization that promotes social activities for seniors. NNC welcomes interested volunteers who enjoy working with seniors.
Handymen: Handyman volunteers work with the Senior Home Repair Team Technicians performing various projects.
Edward A. Myerberg Center (an organization of CHAI): Edward A. Myerberg Center is the go-to place for older adults to find inspiration and connection. They offer fitness center memberships, fitness classes, technology courses and workshops, humanities and art classes.

Northwest Neighbors Connecting (NNC) Village Volunteer Opportunities
Office Volunteers: Work with the program manager on various administrative needs for the NNC Village. Volunteers would assist in making reminder calls, and administrative activities, including assembling mailings
Tech Helper: Tech helpers provide much needed technological support to Seniors in the community. Depending on the volunteer’s interest their role may be to provide minor computer repair, education, or tech support. This role is flexible to the volunteer’s schedule, engagements are scheduled to fit the schedules of the volunteer and the Member. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Edward A. Myerberg Center Volunteer Opportunities
Reception area/front desk- Volunteers will be answering phone, transferring calls, signing people in the building, and answering questions about locations of activities happening in the building. Shifts available from Monday to Friday, either AM (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) or PM (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
Serving lunch for Eating Together Program- Volunteers will be serving meals to older adults and passing out utensils, napkins as needed. Time is 11:45-12:30 daily, Monday to Friday.
Library- Volunteers will be returning books to the shelves as needed. Volunteers needed occasionally, flexibility with scheduling is possible.
Bagel Boys- This program takes place Tuesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Volunteers will be setting up refreshments – bagels, paper goods, drinks and cleaning up during the scheduled speaker (includes removing trash from serving table).
Fitness Center Café- Volunteers will be selling snacks in the café and collect the money. Hours are any time from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Tech Hub Helpers- Tech savvy volunteers can provide support during classes by helping with their mobile devices.
Special Event help (Senior Sunday, Intergenerational programs, etc.)- Volunteers will help with signing people in for events, set up and clean up.
CHAI's Community Engagement and Organizing Volunteer Programs
Stream Clean Ups: Help us make our local waterways a cleaner and safer place for our community. Opportunity for community to come together and make the community clean and green. Great VolunTeams activity.
Good Neighbor Day: Help prepare our neighborhood for winter. Projects include: Assisting older neighbors with their homes and yards, and a Stream cleanup.
Community/Special Event Support: Help be part of the planning team for any of CHAI’s our annual/seasonal community events. We could use persons interested in; posting flyers for CHAI events, taking photos at events, hosting a get-to-know CHAI tea for neighbors/friends and/or leading a block project on your street (Glen & Fallstaff only).

Volunteer Opportunities at JCS
Big Brothers Big Sisters- Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters provide one-on-one mentoring, guidance, support and friendship to Jewish children and teens. Valid/current driver’s license and personal vehicle required.
Friendly Visiting- Volunteers provide companionship to older adult clients of Jewish Community Services (JCS) in clients’ homes.
Interpreter/Translator- Volunteer translators accompany Russian-speaking clients to medical appointments and government offices in order to translate non-medical terminology and help complete paperwork.
Jewish Legal Services- Volunteer lawyers staff monthly evening walk-in clinics for low-income clients seeking legal advice. Volunteers must commit to staff at least 2 clinics per year. Current law license required.
Mitzvah Mobility- Volunteers transport clients of Jewish Community Services (JCS) in volunteers’ cars to and from necessary appointments (medical, government offices, etc.). Valid/current driver’s license and personal vehicle required.
Shopper- Volunteers drive and/or escort JCS clients to local supermarkets or stores, or shop for JCS homebound clients. Valid/current driver’s license and personal vehicle required.
Connections- Connections volunteers provide companionship and social and recreational experiences to JCS clients with emotional, physical, and/or developmental disabilities.
Tutoring- Volunteers tutor JCS clients for scholastic or career advancement.

Jewish Museum of Maryland
Jewish Museum of Maryland Volunteer Opportunities
Front Desk Reception- Front Desk Volunteers maintain a warm and welcome atmosphere for Museum guests while orienting visitors to the Museum complex. Volunteers provide information about all the services that the Museum offers, including informing visitors about tour times, current and upcoming exhibitions, and public programs. Front desk volunteers answer the telephone. They also process admission fees for groups and individuals, maintaining an accurate count of who attends synagogue tours via a computer program. *Basic computer literacy required*
Museum Docent- Museum docents possess an interest in history and enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. They perform an essential duty by leading tours and by interpreting the history of the Museum’s two historic synagogues and exhibitions for adults, families, and school groups of all ages. Training is offered to those interested in joining our docent corps and will focus on the history of Baltimore’s Jewish community. **The two historic synagogues are only accessible by a flight of steps. Please note that the synagogues are currently not accessible by walkers or wheelchairs.**
Museum Gift Shop- The Museum’s gift Shop, Esther’s Place, filled with beautiful Judaica, Museum catalogs, and exhibition related merchandise, is a destination for Museum visitors. Gift Shop volunteers assist guests with purchases, process cash and credit card payments via a computer, arrange merchandise on shelves and in windows, assist the Shop Manager with conducting store inventory and maintaining shop upkeep. *Customer service skills and basic computer literacy required. *
Genealogy- Use your career or hobby expertise to further family history exploration. Volunteers will possess good communication skills, and excitement for family history, experience using family history programs and websites and computer proficiency. Training will be provided to enable you to assist patrons as they work to identify their ancestors and link families. This volunteer opportunity is not always available. Availability is dependent on skills and opportunity.

Animal Care: Support the work of the farm at Pearlstone by feeding, watering, and caring for livestock such as chickens, goats, and sheep.
Organic Vegetable Production: Harvesting, Transplanting, and Cultivating crops.
Floral Design: Cut foliage and flowers from our landscape and farm to arrange flowers for display at our Retreat Center and Events.
Perennial Care: Get your hands dirty at Pearlstone by landscaping, pruning, weeding, harvesting, and cultivating on the farm.
Trail Blazing & Maintenance: Help clear hiking and access pathways by removing debris, pruning, and maintaining our trails with our Stewardship Department.
