Bunches of Lunches

Join JVC, in partnership with Chizuk Amuno Congregation and Schools, Beth El Congregation, Beth Israel Congregation, Beth Tfiloh Congregation & Schools, and Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom Congregation, in preparing bagged meals to be donated to organizations throughout Baltimore.

Bunches of Lunches began as a program between JVC and Krieger Schechter Day School where families made bagged meals to be donated to local shelters. During this time of great need, we are expanding this program to all of our amazing volunteers! Volunteers should plan to drop off their bagged meals at either Chizuk Amuno Congregation and Schools, Beth El, Beth Israel, Beth Tfiloh Congregation and Schools, or Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom, depending on the date. All drop off options are listed in the registration form below. Please be sure to register so we can get an accurate count of meals for our recipients.

The COVID-19 pandemic represents a particularly high risk for people who are already experiencing food and housing insecurity, as they are more likely to lack access to medical care and experience complications.  For that reason, we require all volunteers to take extra precautions in preparing these meals. Please wash your hands and clean all surfaces before preparing the meals and volunteers should wear gloves and cloth masks while preparing the meals. To the maximum extent possible, please use sealed, pre-packaged products for fruit, chips, and dessert items, if included.  If anyone in the household is exhibiting signs of illness, please do not participate at this time.

 Each bagged meal should include:

  • Sandwich or wrap: Could be PB&J, hummus, or lunch meat. Please label the sandwich with its ingredients.

  • Fruit: Could be a piece of fruit, a fruit cup, or applesauce.

  • Snack: Chips, cookies, pretzels, etc.

  • Bottle of water
