Sukkot with Purpose

Create soup kits at your next gathering for a fun and meaningful projects. Each Soup Kit feeds 4-5 people and will be donated to various organizations throughout the city, including Living Classrooms.

$5 for 10 soup containers (can be bought separately)

Want to do it on your own? This is what you need to know!

For 10 Soup Kits, you will need:

  • 10 Jars or appropriate container
  • Measuring Cups/Spoons
    • 1 – 1 cup
    • 3 – 1/3 cups
    • 4 – 1 tsp
  • 7 Cups of Lentils
  • 7 Cups of Yellow Split Peas
  • 14 Cups of Green Split Peas
  • 10 Cups of Barley
  • 20 tsp of Chili Powder
  • 20 tsp of Ground Cumin
  • 10 tsp of Garlic Powder
  • 10 tsp of Onion Powder
  • 20 vegetable Bouillon cubs
  • 10 – 28 ounce jars of diced tomatoes

During Project:

Have your volunteers assemble the kits- each jar should contain:

  • 2/3 cup lentils
  • 2/3 cup yellow split peas
  • 2/3 cup green split peas
  • 1 cup barley
  • 2/3 cup green split peas
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 vegetable bouillon cubes

Ask volunteers to write/decorate a tag to be attached to the jar. Messages could include:

  • Have a great day!
  • Sending you our best wishes!
  • Hope this soup keeps you warm!
