Volunteer Family Member with Thread Baltimore

Thread aims to create a new social fabric of diverse individuals deeply engaged with young people facing the most significant opportunity and achievement gaps.

Thread matches every enrolled young person with an extended family of up to four volunteers provide support like rides to school, weekend dinners or navigating transitions to adulthood. This customized support provided by Thread Families aims to increase outcomes like high school graduation rates, post high school pathways, and a greater sense of belonging for everyone in our community.

Commitment: one year commitment; volunteers must meet with their Thread family member weekly. Volunteers can choose to be a Family Member, Head of Family, or Thread Grandparent

Location: Baltimore City/Downtown Baltimore, Other (varies based on volunteer and members’ locations, but driving to Baltimore City is required)

Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 18 years, complete a background check/fingerprinting/screening (paid for by Thread), and attend orientation. Volunteers must also sign the Thread volunteer handbook. Volunteers must have access to reliable transportation since they are required to visit their Thread young person/family once per week.
