Academic Tutor or Assistant Coach with Soccer Without Borders

Academic Tutors and Assistant Coaches needed at Soccer Without Borders (SWB)! Soccer Without Borders uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, helping to provide newcomer (refugee, immigrant, and asylee) youth with a toolkit for achieving personal and academic success. SWB provides participants with year-round soccer programming as well as opportunities for English language learning, teambuilding, leadership, mentoring, and social inclusion.

Volunteers help tutor and/or coach a diverse group of English language learners at middle or high schools in Baltimore City or southeast Baltimore County. Academic and assistant coach volunteers are needed at least one day a week (Monday-Thursday) for at least one ”season” (10 weeks). Middle school programs run from either 3-4:30pm or 3-6pm (depending on the school). High school programs run from 4:30-6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to 1 day a week for 10 weeks.
Location: Various middle and high schools throughout northeast Baltimore City and southeast Baltimore County
Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
