Academic Tutor or Assistant Coach with Soccer Without Borders

Academic Tutors and Assistant Coaches needed at Soccer Without Borders (SWB)! Soccer Without Borders uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, helping to provide newcomer (refugee, immigrant, and asylee) youth with a toolkit for achieving personal and academic success. SWB provides participants with year-round soccer programming as well as opportunities for English Language Development, teambuilding, leadership, mentoring, and social inclusion.

Volunteers help tutor and/or coach a diverse group of English language learners at Middle Schools in Northeast Baltimore City and Southeast Baltimore County. Academic and assistant coach volunteers are needed at least one day a week (Monday-Thursday) for at least one semester (Semesters are mid-September through mid-December and late January-late May). If volunteers are participating in the whole program (both coaching and tutoring) they are needed from 2:15pm-6:00pm. If a volunteer is only participating in one program the timing is as follows; coaching is from 2:15pm-4:30pm and tutoring is from 4:30pm-6:00pm.

Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to 1 day a week for a semester.
Location: Middle Schools in Northeast Baltimore City and Southeast Baltimore County
Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
