Tutor Students at ¡Adelante Latina!

¡Adelante Latina! is a three-year, after school, college-prep program for Baltimore City Latina girls.

Tutors are needed once/week to help prepare 10th-12th grade Baltimore City Latina girls for the SAT and the college and scholarship application process. The focus of the program is on improving vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing skills, as well as helping them with SAT preparation.  Tutors work with students one-on-one on work that is assigned by ¡Adelante Latina! teachers.  No Spanish knowledge required. All tutoring takes place at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

¡Adelante Latina! meets from early September to late May, with a 5-week break from mid-December to mid-January.

Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit once-a-week from 4:10-6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Location: Baltimore City/Downtown Baltimore (Homeland neighborhood).
Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 25 years old. Tutors must be able to guide students in assignments in reading comprehension, writing skills and vocabulary on a high school level. Volunteers must be proficient in electronic communication (sending/receiving e-mails, PDFs, files, etc) and Microsoft Office Suite.
