Reading Partners Baltimore is looking for volunteer tutors to help students become lifelong readers.
Volunteers needed to tutor students through Reading Partners. Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that pairs community volunteers and elementary school students who are reading below grade level in Baltimore city. This proven early literacy organization provides volunteer-led, individualized reading support to students in under-resourced public elementary schools.
Reading Partners volunteers are matched one-on-one with students in kindergarten through fourth grade who are reading anywhere from a few months to two and a half years below grade level. Volunteers utilize an easy-to-follow, individualized lesson plan each week, specific to their students’ needs in order to meet them at their level and help build both literacy skills and confidence.
Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of once a week with the same student for the duration of the academic school year, during the school day. Volunteers must be available to tutor during the weekday (approximately between 8am-5pm).
Location: in-person at various city schools (Baltimore City/Downtown)
Restrictions: Volunteers must be 18 years old. In-person fingerprinting through Baltimore City Public Schools required (paid for by Reading Partners). Training provided.
