Camp Counselor at Friendship Circle’s SPARK Camp

Friendship Circle focuses on developing the values of altruism, compassion, and acceptance in teen volunteers as they heighten community awareness and sensitivity and encourage a sense of responsibility and involvement. Volunteers bring happiness and companionship to children with special needs by celebrating their individuality, as well as bringing energy, support, and peace of mind to their families.

Friendship Circle is seeking counselors for their SPARK camp program for adults with disabilities. Counselors are responsible for providing daily care and support to campers, acting as a role model by leading with a positive attitude, working together with camp leadership and other staff on to plan activities, reporting concern to camp leadership, and ensuring campers are aware of safety procedures. Informal Jewish learning will also take place. Camp will take place at North Oaks Senior Living’s campus.

Commitment: Camp runs from 8:4am-3:15pm (starting Monday, July 10th and ending Friday, August 4th). Weekly staff meetings are required. Volunteers are needed for the entire duration of camp.

Location: Pikesville/Upper Park Heights

Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.  Volunteers must identify as Jewish. Orientation (taking place July 6th and 7th) is required. Experience with working with adults with disabilities is preferred, but not required. Volunteers must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) or actively enrolled in school.
