Volunteers are needed at BridgingLife!

BridgingLife, formerly Carroll Hospice, improves the quality of life for patients needing end-of-life care, allowing them to live as fully and comfortably as possible by providing quality palliative care, pain and symptom management, and support for their families. BridgingLife serves patients in the Greater Baltimore area, Carroll County, Frederick County, and parts of southern PA.

Volunteers are needed to serve in many capacities depending on their talents, interests, and abilities. Whether working directly with patients and families, providing administrative and fundraising support or completing “at-home” tasks, their contributions are invaluable. Volunteers may fulfill some of the following roles: companionship visits, respite care visits, palliative care contact, visits with veterans, music visits, visits with pets, and general support.

Commitment: varies, based on volunteer’s availability; volunteers are asked to commit 1-2 hours each week

Location: Sinai Hospital Hospice inpatient units (Upper Park Heights/Pikesville); Northwest Hospital hospice inpatient units (Randallstown, Baltimore County); patients’ homes (varies)

Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers between 13-18 must have a parent/guardian present. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, vaccinated against the flu, and provide a TB test. Volunteers must also provide proof of chicken pox (varicella) vaccination or proof of having the disease.  Training is provided (total of 16 hours); which includes in-person and online courses. A background check and 2 letters of reference are required for this position.
