Cemetery Clean Up Day
Hebrew Friendship Cemetery 3600 E. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21224
The High Holidays are a time that we as a community reflect on and remember the past year. With that reflection often comes the desire to honor and remember those that came before us. One way to honor our ancestors is by saying Kaddish, remembering their lives, and by visiting the cemeteries where they now reside. Baltimore has numerous Jewish cemeteries that are over 100 years old. Although still well maintained by our community partners, the cemeteries often require attention beyond what the caretakers can accomplish alone, and it is our job, as the stewards of our ancestors’ legacy, to do our part to maintain and beautify these sanctified grounds. On August 29th Jewish Volunteer Connection (JVC) and the Jewish Cemetery Association (JCA), along with sponsors, Fram Monument, The Associated, and Sol Levinson and Bros. Funeral Home, is holding a volunteer cleanup at Hebrew Friendship Cemetery. We will be putting teams together to remove debris and polish monuments affected by decades of weather.
