Bunches of Lunches Covid 19 Response

Registration for the April 27th Bunches of Lunches is now CLOSED as we have met the needs of our partners for meals on that date. If you are interested in preparing meals to be donated in the future, please complete this registration form, and a JVC staff member will be in touch.

Join JVC in preparing bagged meals to be donated to Weinberg Housing & Resource Center and Manna House. Volunteers should plan to deliver their own bagged meals on Monday, April 27.

Bunches of Lunches began as a partnership between JVC and Krieger Schechter Day School where families made bagged meals to be donated to local shelters and organizations. During this time of great need, we’re expanding the program to all of our amazing volunteers!

The COVID19 pandemic represents a particularly high risk for people who are already experiencing food and housing insecurity, as they are more likely to lack access to medical care and experience complications.  For that reason, we ask all volunteers to take extra precautions in preparing these meals. Please wash your hands and clean all surfaces before preparing the meals and volunteers should wear gloves and cloth masks while preparing the meals. To the maximum extent possible, please use sealed, pre-packaged products for fruit, chips, and dessert items, if included.  If anyone in the household is exhibiting signs of illness, please do not participate at this time.

Each bagged meal should include:

  • Sandwich or wrap: Could be PB&J, hummus, or lunch meat. Please label the sandwich with its ingredients.
  • Fruit: Could be a piece of fruit, a fruit cup, or applesauce.
  • Snack: Chips, cookies, pretzels, etc.
  • Bottle of water

**Per Governor Hogan’s “Stay at Home” order, Marylanders are permitted to deliver food to nonprofit organizations and shelters.**
